USA: IME procedure
The immigration medical examination with Dr. AUBERT takes place in three stages:
- pre-consultation exchanges by email,
- then a physical face-to-face consultation with Dr. AUBERT,
- and finally (for people over 15 years of age) one or two examinations that will be carried out immediately after the consultation with Dr. AUBERT.
- The pre-consultation exchanges by email
- Dr AUBERT will contact you by email as soon as you have booked your in-person consultation appointment on DOCTOLIB to guide you through the process of updating your vaccinations. Several email exchanges may be necessary, which is why you should allow (as far as possible) a fortnight between the date you book your appointment and the actual appointment date.
- Please note that during these exchanges, you will need your invitation letter to the embassy and all your vaccination documents, so it is essential that you locate them (if you don’t have them, ask your mom! Generally, moms keep that kind of things!).
- AUBERT will review your vaccinations and, if necessary, prescribe biological tests (reimbursed) to check certain immunities and determine the vaccines required before the in-person consultation.
- Your vaccinations will be updated by your primary care physician, and communication with Dr. AUBERT will ensure that this is done as quickly as possible (for more details on vaccinations, click on this link).
- If any vaccinations are still missing on the day of your face-to-face consultation, Dr. AUBERT will be able to complete the missing vaccinations.
- The physical face-to-face consultation.
- Dr. AUBERT will first ask you to sign a document certifying that you agree to the collection of medical data and the use of the e-medical software.
- He will access your file on the e-medical software using the “PRS” identification number on your appointment letter from the U.S. Embassy (a document you must not forget to bring!).
- He will check your vaccinations (using the information collected during the pre-consultation exchanges).
- He will administer any missing vaccinations if your primary care physician has not already done so.
- He will then ask you about fifteen questions about your personal medical history.
- He will then proceed with the medical examination itself. If you are accompanied by a family member or friend, they are welcome to attend the examination. The examination is carried out in a shirt or T-shirt; women may keep their bras on. Here are the details:
- measurement of weight and height,
- examination of the spine,
- abdominal palpation,
- search for lymph nodes,
- cardiac and pulmonary auscultation,
- palpation of the thyroid,
- examination of the mouth,
- blood pressure measurement,
- visual screening examination
- For women, no breast examination will be performed unless you explicitly request it for a specific medical reason.
- And for both women and men, no examination of the intimate areas will be performed.
Dr. AUBERT will then refer you for one or two additional tests (depending on your age).
