The immigration medical examination procedure
The immigration medical examination with Dr. AUBERT proceeds as follows:
- First, I will ask you to sign a document certifying that you agree to my collecting medical data about you and using the e-medical software.
- If you have received an IMM 1017 document, I will use the file pre-registered by IRCCE. Otherwise, I will create one myself by asking you for your last name, first name, physical address, email address, date of birth, and gender, based on the information in your passport.
- I will then ask you about fifteen questions about your personal medical history.
- Then I will proceed with the medical examination itself. If you are accompanied by a family member or friend, that person is welcome to attend the examination. The examination is conducted in a shirt or T-shirt; women may keep their bras on. Here are the details:
- measurement of weight and height,
- examination of the spine,
- abdominal palpation,
- search for lymph nodes,
- cardiac and pulmonary auscultation,
- palpation of the thyroid,
- examination of the mouth,
- blood pressure measurement,
- visual screening
- For women, no breast examination will be performed unless you explicitly request it for a specific medical reason.
- And for both women and men, no examination of the intimate areas will be performed.
- You will have to do two additional tests:
- A biological assessment at a laboratory near the office, including a blood test (no urine test):
- HIV serology
- Syphilis serology
- Plasma creatinine test (to check for kidney disease)
- A chest X-ray, taken at a radiologist’s office near my practice
- A biological assessment at a laboratory near the office, including a blood test (no urine test):
- In some cases, I may need to add a few more blood tests, depending on your medical history
- The procedure for children is less complex and depends on their age (see FAQs).
- The test results will be sent directly to me within a few days and, if everything is normal, I will approve your file within a week. I will send you confirmation of approval by email. If a test is abnormal, I will inform you before approving your file, in order to check with you that you agree to me passing this information on to the Canadian medical authorities.
